Unlike religious officiants, celebrants aren't tied to any specific faith tradition—we can create ceremonies that are religious, spiritual, secular, or anything in between. The focus is always on honouring the person who has died in a way that reflects who they were and what their family wants.

Why choose a celebrant instead of a registrar or religious officiant?

Choice and personalisation. Registrars and religious officiants often work within set formats. Celebrants don't. We create ceremonies that are entirely bespoke—we can include anything you want, exclude anything you don't, and create something that truly reflects your loved one's life, values and personality.

Do I need to book you through my funeral director?

Accepted Answer

No. You can book me directly, or your funeral director can recommend me and coordinate on your behalf. Either way works—it's whatever is easiest for you.

How do you work with funeral directors?

Very collaboratively. I'll liaise with your funeral director about timing, logistics and any practical details. They'll handle the arrangements; I'll handle the ceremony. We work together to make sure everything runs smoothly for you.

Can we have a non-religious ceremony?

Absolutely. Many of the ceremonies I create are completely non-religious. We focus on celebrating your loved one's life, values and relationships without any religious content.

Can we include some religious or spiritual elements?

Yes. If certain prayers, blessings or spiritual elements are meaningful to you or your loved one, we can include them. The ceremony is yours to design.

How long does a ceremony last?

The Essential Farewell Package includes a 20-30 minute ceremony. The Complete Celebration of Life Package is 30-45 minutes. If you need something different, we can discuss it.

Can family members participate?

Absolutely. Family or friends can do readings, share memories, or contribute in other ways. I'll guide them through what to expect and make sure they feel comfortable with their part.

How soon do we need to book you?

For the Essential Farewell Package, we'll have one consultation. For the Complete Celebration of Life Package, we can have up to four meetings. Either way, I'm available by phone or email if you have questions between meetings.

I'll send you a draft a few days before the ceremony. You'll have time to review it, request changes, and make sure it feels right. Nothing is set in stone until you're happy with it.

The Essential Farewell Package is £250. The Complete Celebration of Life Package is £300. There are no hidden fees—the price you see is what you pay.

Everything listed on each package page—consultation, ceremony writing, delivery, coordination with funeral directors and venues, guidance on music and readings, and your keepsake script. For the Complete Celebration package, you also get up to four planning meetings and a reading booklet.

Do you charge for travel?

No. Travel within Central Scotland (North Lanarkshire, South Lanarkshire, Glasgow) is included in the price.

When do we need to pay?

Payment is due before the ceremony. I'll send you an invoice after we've had our first meeting and you've confirmed you'd like to work with me.

I'll arrive early to check in with the funeral director and venue staff. I'll make sure everything is ready—music cued, readings prepared, anything visual set up correctly. When the ceremony begins, I'll deliver it with warmth and professionalism. You can trust that everything is taken care of.

That's completely normal and expected. I'll pause if needed, and we'll take whatever time is necessary. This is a funeral—emotions are part of it, and that's okay.

Can we record the ceremony?

Yes, if the venue allows it. Many families arrange for audio or video recording so family members who couldn't attend can watch later.

Will we get a copy of the ceremony?

Yes. You'll receive a beautifully presented keepsake copy of the full ceremony script. For the Complete Celebration package, you'll also receive a separate reading booklet.
